Cape Town offers the suitor a deep bag of tricks from which to pluck a little gem when considering his options for that first date. The customary dinner for two can be an intense arena where the focus is centered on each other, and perhaps being under a conversational spot light on date #1 isn’t always the best foot to get started on. A movie on the other hand absolves the two people of any interaction, and while it gets the first date out of the way, it achieves little in terms of getting to know that person any better.
One of the initiatives of MAN was to address the first date phenomenon. It need not be a pressure situation, or a mandatory ritual. We set out to debunk the institute of dating and reveal it as an opportunity where two people engage with each other and their environment by having a good time. We further expounded the institute of dating by disregarding the rule book and leaving the definition of ‘a date’ up to the participants' interpretation.
As with gifts, its often the thought behind the object that creates the greatest impression. We’ve put together a few of our ideas of dating activities that steer away from the traditional date.
